Change is doing the hard work

Changing yourself isn’t easy. It’s all about doing the hard things, doing the work. It’s about making the hard choices: every day, every hour, every minute, every second. You can start over in a heartbeat if you want to. Every moment gives you an infinite amount of possibilities—an endless amount of routes through life. You are in the driver’s seat. You are at the helm of your ship. You are the captain. You are the CEO of your own life…. You are the protagonist of your own story.

Pile of pebbles at the beach. Text: What small change will you make today?

This year, I’ve made so many changes in my life. I’ve had several conversations this week where people told me I’ve grown so much. And it’s true. If you compare who I was just six months ago to the person I am today, you’d probably say they are two different people. That change is the sum of all the small but hard decisions I’ve made every day, multiple times a day. Will I eat a fried snack or some veggies with hummus? Will I sit at my desk to eat my lunch or go for a walk in the park? Will I close myself off or reach out to a friend? Will I scroll through social media or take 5 minutes to journal about my day?

Every morning, I ask myself the hard questions. Who do I want to be today? How do I want to show up for others today? What small thing can I change today?

Is it normal to ask yourself these questions so often? Probably not, and I wish it would become more the norm. Living your life questioning what you think is normal. Being more intentional about the way you live your life.

That’s why I consider myself a rebel.

Welcome to November Rebel.
